Banner Making Workshop

Join us for a hands-on Pride Banner-Making Workshop with the Hold It Up Collective where we’ll be channelling our creativity into powerful statements for social justice.

If you are interested in LGBTQ+ activism, campaigning, the role of art in social movements, community organising, and the importance of solidarity please join us and meet other like-minded people.  No previous printing experience is necessary.

What to expect:

  • > Learn how to make a DIY banner to carry on a march or parade soon or to display in your window

  • > Print and paint onto paper and/or fabric

  • > Work with others to create bold statements and visuals that amplify a message

  • > Engage in discussions around LGBTQ+ inequality, other social issues, and strategies for change

What to bring:

  • > We will provide materials, but feel free to bring an old t-shirt, tote bag or fabric to paint on.

This is the second year running we have ran this workshop in the run-up to Wakefield Pride. Pride has always been, and remains a protest. Come along and let’s make the most of the opportunities we have through Pride, to have our voices heard on the issues we care about.

Tickets are free but a suggested donation of £5, for those that can afford it, will go towards the upkeep of Our House Wakefield.
